  3. Who knows how many hundreds or thousands of Pinoy nurses (especially second coursers) there are who jumped the line by entering the US as tourists, then applied for adjustment of status in 2005 - there must be many. These jumpers will also get their visas from the Philippine EB3 pool and will affect those who are pitifully waiting in line by consular processing in the Philippines.
These tourist nurses are now also waiting to get their own visas and will influence further movement of the PDs. Plus the dependents of these nurses will also grab the visas, very few will be left for real nurses. That's how it is. It's a free-for-all survival of the fittest. Those waiting in the Philippines, don't get your hopes up too high.

  6. If You are a nurse or if you know any nurse friends who have been abandoned by their sponsors/petitioners in recent years. If they already have established priority dates either in 2005 or 2006 but now have no sponsor, you can refer them to me OGP represent, and I will pay you a fee of $ 400 on each nurse you refer ,if they meet our recruitment criteria

  11. Hi all,

My PD is Feb.2006, Philippines. I'm so concerned that my visascreen has expired in July this yr. Does anyone know if I need to re-apply for one with a latest IELTS passed band score? Or, shall I just leave it as it is? Does anyone have an idea on what to do about this?

    Many thanks.

  12. To starlight. My visascreen expired last July. I'm scheduled to take my ielts again this Sept. 25.

    ReplyDelete
  13. To Starlight, you need to renew your VisaScreen. Please visit the CGFNS website. You'll find therein the complete instruction on how to proceed with it. Precisely, this will be of great help to you.

  15. Hi Rhea and Jean,

Thanks a lot for a very helpful information. I've taken and I've got passed scores with IELTS already, so this will need forwarding to the CGFNS office.

    Cheers...

  16. Starlight: Have you taken your Ielts just recently? Inorder for you to renew your visascreen, you have to re-apply and submit again the necessary requirements just like the first. Though you've passed the ielts before, its a pre-requisite to take another one before they issue you another VScreen cert.

  17. looking forward to 2011- 2012 my PD is sept. 2006 but not really too bothered by its delay since work permits are just renewed anyway. Only hassle is the visa screen but at least no need to take english exam only need to show employment certification from current sponsor.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Rhea: I sat down for ielts just last month. Do we just submit a renewal form, or a repeat application form to the CGFNS office? I know that both of our certificates have expired in July this yr.

dgd: with regard to an employment cert.,is it only from a US sponsor? Could any other English speaking country employer be accepted to certify?

    ReplyDelete
  19. hi starlight,

Technically yes because the CGFNS visascreen is really for the issuance of a greencard (permanent resident card). One of the requirements for becoming a permanent resident and eventually a US citizen is that the applicant is fluent in written and spoken english. That's why my friends and other RNs who are already here and working are relieved that we don't have to take any english exams all over again, just renew our visascreens and that's it. The renewal is already costing us an arm and a leg and so will taking an english exam again,if ever. It's just to much spending.

i don't particularly understand why those who are outside the US have to take the english exam again when they already passed it? Do they think that after 5 years you would forget how to speak, read and write english? I think it's all just money especially when no one is taking these exams by the hoards anymore like it used to be. It's just money for these testing bodies, money from us that is.

  20. dgd, that's a good news for you and all those who hold work permits! I suppose nurses outside the US have no choice than to get visascreens renewed, pity! I can imagine those who don't have enough sources of living.

On the other hand, I'm quite apprehensive that my daughter who's 18 might not be able to finish university course when our Embassy appointment comes. I'd like her to graduate(God willing,in 2012) in the Phils. Anyone who has encountered a situation like this? Please can you share some ideas?

    ReplyDelete
  21. I'd like to correct, I suppose those nurses who are outside the US are obliged to take an English exam.again to get visascreens renewed. Furthermore, I would suggest to renew or apply for a visascreen online and you can save quite reasonable amount of money.

    ReplyDelete
  22. hey starlight,

your daughter can finish then just follow, you can ask the consul about that or, she can go to the US to complete all the formalities then go back to the philippines and finish her studies, she just needs to get a parole. All these questions you can ask from an American Consul when you go for your appt. Yup, visa screens are done online but they all have the same price. I don't go throw my immigration lawyer anymore, most of the documents needed are all online even the renewal of my work permit my lawyer only got the first one for me the rest i renewed myself online, no sweat! Good luck with your interview.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Just log on to cgfns and click on the renewal of visascreen. There, you will be given instructions on what to do and the requirements needed for a second review of your status. Plus of course, the result of your Ielts, that's the job of the British Council to send it to them through courier or electronic msg. It's on your own discretion. But of course, through courier, there's a charge for that.

  30. to starlight: i believe that you have to take the IELTS again( Over all band score 6.5 and speajing band scor e of 7...and then submit to the ICHP/CGFNS again and pay also the renewal fee for visa screen...if you have the sponsor they will just reimburse your expenses...

  31. 33. hi mary cor,

Will your job in Saudi be as an RN? Over here in the US if you have not been actively working as an RN for 5 or more years they want you to take a refresher course. Also, is your sponsor (the one who filed an I-140 for you here in the USA) still willing to wait for you? I guess since you're still waiting for your greencard. Anything can still happen, though they are processing PD in Jan 2005 there is no guarantee that by next year our PDs will be current. My PD is also in Sept 2006 and I have changed hospitals since then because some hospitals just didn't work out for me. Take the job in saudi, because time lost is income lost. Be productive until you get called for your interview till then, no sense in waiting for the PD to become current and twiddle your thumbs. Just keep getting RN experience when you can because the more you have experience in your resume the better your pay scale will be. Good luck and lets all keep our fingers crossed!

  34. Hi mary cor,

I'm still grateful for you have shared some ideas about IELTS for visascreen.

As far as I know, active clinical experience is required by your employer who sponsors your greencard. Also, I have read through again with the requirements for Embassy interview which my agency gave me before and it says the same.

Take dgd's advice as it is a good one. Good luck to us all.

  38. Dear RN.s
My PD is July, 2005/ ROW. I had my IV interview in May, 2008, but was not issued visa as my agency didn't
send me offor of employment in time. Then I submitted it but the the PD was not currunt by that time. And was told by the Embassy to wait untill my PD to become again currunt.
Do have any idea if the PD becomes currunt, shall again I be asked to send updated offor of employment? with the rest of the documents like NIB clearence, photos, DS-230, re-medical etc. Anybody who have such experience plz let me know?

  39. mary cor,

don't let ANYBODY pressure you! What is happening right now is NOT anybody's fault! It resulted with the economic meltdown here in the USA. They should be thankful that you found an RN job in Saudi, it may not be the most hospitable work environment in the world but if you do your job, follow muslim rules and be diligent in your everyday happenings then you should be fine! Money is ok in the middle east because your salary is tax free and housing is provided. I know that there could be some financial issues with your family but they will just have to wait. In the meantime, concentrate on your work, learn as much as you can in order to prepare yourself for work here in the USA when the time comes. It's entirely different here and doctors here are quite demanding and often times mean with new nurses but of course once you they get to know you and how you work things will lighten up. Don't let anything distract you from becoming a very good nurse and ultimately you can help everyone but you have to help yourself first. Good luck and be safe in Saudi always!

  41. Most nurses waiting in the Philippines have new children. These dependents will take away visas meant for nurses behind them.
The EB3 movement will slow to a crawl of just weeks per month of movement because of this. Unavailability could happen again in a few months. Hope all 2005 will be done with before anyone else.

  42. Hello.. I am from the Philippines and one of those affected by retrogression. My PD is Feb 2006 and my case is already closed, meaning I am only waiting for visa availability before I am scheduled for interview under EB3 category. Since we have been waiting for so long, we have set future personal plans. I am just concern if getting married at this point would affect my case status. Anyone knows of such situation as mine? I just would like to ask opinions on this. After the wedding, can i also file for my husband? with the current progress of PDs, i am just confused on what step to take. help...
